Summary

The Senior Print Shop Operator will set-up and operate full range of offset presses and related equipment to produce complex full color printed materials. Perform routine maintenance and adjustments on printing and bindery equipment.

Experience on 4-6 color half-size offset printing press producing multi-color work; dot-to-dot registration; trap colors; spot varnish; print large solids; aqueous coating; pack the blanket and/or plate cylinder to register colors between units; print duotones and full reverses; convert from single-sided to two-sided printing and return. A high-level of analytical and problem solving skills is required. Flexibility to adapt to changing work properties; work in noisy environment; willingness to work nights and overtime; interact effectively and courteously with all levels of personnel, customers, vendors, and other parties; and vision sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

Must also be able to operate both bindery and small offset press equipment, this includes, performing cutting, folding, etc. Performs routine maintenance and adjustments on bindery and printing equipment as required.

Minimum Requirements

Three (3) years of large press and multi color work experience. High-level of analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to transport materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Experience:

Experience with offset presses, sizes above 19X25

Experience with multi color (CYMK) printers

Shift schedule:

Monday through Friday 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm (overtime required based on business need)

Major Accountabilities

1) Plan assigned jobs effectively to maximize production and operate equipment safely and efficiently in order to minimize production costs and produce high quality work within required time frames and job requirements..

2) Set-up and operate standard, single or multi-color offset presses with sheet feed system to produce high-quality printed bulletins, brochures, charts, graphs, photographs, etc. within required time frames.

3) Apply chemical agents and dampening solutions such as inks and protective coatings; install printing plates and adjust feed, inking and paper guides to maintain print quality according to materials being produced; complete necessary paperwork

4) Operate small offset press equipment to produce specialized printing materials.

5) Perform minor, routine maintenance on equipment.

6) Perform bindery operations to bind, fold, scoring, perforating and bundling magazines, booklets, pamphlets, directories, etc.; collate, stack, and pack printed material for delivery.
