Program Manager – Industrial Products & Systems oversees the national, regional and international technical programs of several Sections principally within the Industrial Products & Systems Division. NEMA’s industrial products include motors, industrial controls, arc welding equipment, insulating materials and other technologies.
The position reports to the VP of Operations and is located in Rosslyn, Virginia. Up to 40 percent time on travel is possible. This position provides technical and managerial growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Manages several technical programs related to industrial products
- Develop technical strategies and project plans to support NEMA’s industrial products and systems
- Develop annual budgets and track expenses and labor to ensure that technical work is on schedule
- Plan logistical arrangements, manage meetings, prepare meeting minutes and distribute associated documents
- Work effectively with Members to solicit there input on technical projects and map Standards topology to identify new work opportunities
- Write technical reports and articles
Coordinates the development of new technical Standards for industrial products and systems
- Manage the technical process related to Standards development, revision, and reaffirmation. Establish/initiate new technical projects
- Oversee harmonization efforts of Standards with Canada and Mexico leading to development/publication of electrotechnical Standards and their subsequent maintenance activities
- Manage work of US National Committee Technical Advisory Groups (USNC TAGs) to promote adoption of domestic Standards into the International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC)
- Serve as Secretary for various Standards development activities
- Adhere to established domestic and regional Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) policies and procedures
Build effective and persistent personal lines of communication with NEMA member companies, technical committees and key participants in the Standards development process
Provide active involvement in the retention of existing Members and the recruitment of prospective new Members
- Maintain active communication with existing membership to ensure and encourage maximum participation in NEMA activities
- Assist in the research and recruitment of new membership prospects
Experience and Qualifications
- BS degree ideally in electrical or Electro-mechanical engineering
- Practical experience in manufacturing, maintenance, installation, testing of related electrical products or comparable military experience a plus
- Proven technical acumen in problem-solving
- Strong management skills, budget planning and project management expertise
- Ability to execute multiple projects against demanding timelines
- Ability to clearly and persuasively write, speak and represent technical matters and exhibit executive presence in all settings
- Familiarization with the Standards development and publication process, the National Electrical Code, and other building codes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
