Position Overview:

Southern California Edison is seeking an energetic Project Controls Specialist / Scheduler (PCE3) to join our Major Projects and Engineering (MP&E) team in the Generation organization.  MP&E is responsible for the planning and execution of a portfolio of complex Generation projects.   The successful candidate will have proven scheduling experience with complex, multi-phase, multi-million dollar design and construction projects.  Some general responsibilities include preparing detailed project schedules, reviewing contractor schedules and creating monthly status reports.  The scheduler works closely with project managers and the projects control team to maintain the project's planned timeline by performing analysis and communicating progress or challenges.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Generation's work management team to align project schedules with operational activities.
  • Develop and track multiple projects schedule within the Generation portfolio.
  • Develop standard schedule templates (where applicable)
  • Conduct planning sessions with the project team to determine optimum schedule
  • Prepare time scaled charts and diagrams.
  • Monitor project progress against the established baseline.
  • Identify schedules variances, opportunities and proactively develop mitigation strategies for the project manager.
  • Maintain simplified logic schedules to highlight status of key interfaces for critical path review.
  • Review contractor schedules and coordinate comments or corrections with such entities.
  • Report schedule performance issues.
  • Evaluate requests for project time extensions.
  • Develop and maintain a master schedule for the portfolio of projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost-loaded schedules for new construction and renovation projects. 
  • Perform resource schedule analysis for person-hours and equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or other related discipline.
  • Five (5) years of experience in project controls and/or construction management.
  • Experience performing critical path analysis to ascertain project completion in time and in budget, including evaluation of alternative scenarios.
  • Experience with Primavera Project Planner Version 6 (or higher)
  • Experience in working with project managers to identify schedule variances, opportunities and mitigation strategies.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or other related discipline
  • PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) Certification
  • Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • SAP Experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Project

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA.
