Description
Purpose

This position is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the company's information assets. This will be accomplished by:

  • Working with Technology Security's Vulnerability Management program

  • Working with business partners to address device lifecycle management

  • Providing information security expertise and consulting when needed

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Experience with network infrastructure, modern operating systems, database applications, web applications and other computing technologies

  • Hands-on experience with Network Scanning technology

  • Advanced understanding of Excel

  • Ability to influence business partners

  • Ability to perform information security risk assessments and recommend actions to be taken

  • Experience promoting security as a business enablement function through the use of documentation, metrics, and strong verbal communication

  • Industry certification preferred (CISSP, CCSP, CISA, GIAC, etc)

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the ongoing management of Technology Security's vulnerability management program - identify areas of opportunity/research and recommend solutions

  • Understanding of device lifecycle management

  • Develop creative solutions to meet business needs while ensuring appropriate security controls and best practices are implemented

  • Partner with others to identify and resolve information security issues

  • Help business partners understand and apply information security concepts, processes and technologies

  • Maintain current knowledge of information security concepts, technologies and practices

  • Participate in projects and other duties as assigned

  • Ability to understand business requirements and ability to present appropriate information for securing Southern Company Network

  • Effectively communicate both technical and business requirements
