About the EIX Strategic Planning team:

The Strategic Planning team at Edison International leads the strategic planning, corporate development and M&A activities across all EIX companies. Within these roles, some of the key functions we play include leading the strategic planning process for EIX and its subsidiaries, incubating corporate-wide strategic initiatives, providing internal strategy and technology consulting, keeping a pulse on the industry through insightful research, partnerships, market intelligence and analytics, identifying new sources of growth and innovation for our companies, and driving M&A efforts to grow and transform our business. We work closely and collaboratively with key partners at SCE and the EEG family of companies, as well as engaging externally with the most relevant companies, thought leaders and forums in the energy space.

Position Overview:

The Financial Analyst position is a key role in the Strategic Planning organization for Edison International (EIX) and will report to the Director of Strategic Planning and Initiatives. The position will involve conducting research and analysis on key industries, markets, company and trends, and providing quantitative analytic support on projects to inform and shape the development of corporate strategies. A significant amount of this work will be in support of a newly implemented company-wide strategic planning process. 

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Independently research areas of exploration at the direction of the Director or Principal Advisor of the team including reviewing industry reports and searching publicly available literature conducting subject matter expert interviews, and gaining insights from conferences/webinars.

  • Perform benchmarking of companies and sectors, develop strategic scenarios, conduct high-level market sizing/valuation/financial analysis, and run simulations.

  • Create, modify and/or review different financial, economic, or other models (e.g., valuation, revenue/earnings, project economics, econometric, etc.), applying critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and data analysis to support strategic decisions.

  • Provide data to determine the appropriate analyses or analytical methodologies suited for specific strategic objectives or projects.

  • Provide project management support for the department's activities including coordinating executive meetings, briefings and communications; preparing presentations, summarizing findings developing work plans, roadmaps and templates to track and organize activities; organizing internal brainstorming and knowledge exchange sessions

  • Manage online collaboration and documentation platforms, supporting corporate communication efforts on company strategy

  • Provide ad-hoc project support, as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, finance, engineering, policy analysis, or a related discipline

  • Three years of experience in fields of quantitative analysis, research, management consulting, and/or investment banking

  • Business, financial, and/or power industry knowledge

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • Power industry experience

  • Project management experience

  • Collaborative and team-oriented

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving experience
