About EIX Strategy & Corporate Development

The Strategy & Corporate Development team at Edison International leads the strategic planning, corporate development and M&A activities across all EIX companies. Within these roles, some of the key functions we play include leading the strategic planning process for EIX and its subsidiaries, incubating corporate-wide strategic initiatives, providing internal strategy and technology consulting, keeping a pulse on the industry through insightful research, partnerships, market intelligence and analytics, identifying new sources of growth and innovation for our companies, and driving M&A efforts to grow and transform our business. We work closely and collaboratively with key partners at SCE and Edison Energy, as well as engaging externally with the most relevant companies, thought leaders and forums in the energy space.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Vice president of M&A and Strategic Planning at EIX, the Sr. M&A and Strategy Manager (MPP2) will help identify, research, analyze, make recommendations, and negotiate potential mergers, acquisitions and divestitures supporting EIX growth objectives.  It will also, at times, support strategic efforts across the company, with a focus on internal consulting engagements, strategic guidance to business leads, independent research and analysis of complex business issues. The successful candidate will provide thought partnership, creative solutions, and innovative problem solving to the EIX Strategy & Corporate Development team and relevant business units.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Leads both internal and external due diligence teams and directs negotiations with partners for  new business transactions. 
  • Negotiates transaction terms directly with partner companies, including price, the Company's rights, contingencies, and employment agreements.
  • Sources, evaluates, and screens new businesses and investment opportunities. 
  • Networks with investment banks, consultants, and competing businesses to identify opportunities. 
  • Provides recommendations and meets with management teams to evaluate merits of business and alignment with the Company's strategic objectives.
  • Develops and provides recommendations, investment memoranda, and/or diligence report for executive leadership meetings.  Obtains senior management input and consensus to pursue new opportunities.
  • Manages internal consulting engagements to advance specific EIX corporate efforts or strategic activities at EIX subsidiaries.
  • Takes part in strategy development, providing guidance and insights on strategic themes, questions, scenarios, and hypotheses.
  • Conducts independent, in-depth analysis of complex business issues lacking a precedent to follow.
  • Supports research and analysis of external EIX corporate communication pieces such as white papers, reports, studies and publications.
  • Presents findings and recommendations to managers and senior executives.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, finance, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience in finance and valuation and financial accounting
  • Two years of experience in financial/economic analysis
  • Seven years of experience in fields of consulting, banking or private-equity
  • Experience in strategy, planning and project management

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in business, law or engineering
  • Power industry experience    
  • Experience in M&A or investment management and other transactional work

Comments:

  • The primary work location for this position Rosemead, CA; however, the successful candidate may also be asked occasionally to travel domestically
