Purpose You will create mutually beneficial customer relationships, that are higher, wider and deeper with your assigned customer accounts; analyze customers' energy needs and provide high quality and cost effective solutions; responsibilities include sales, marketing and generating revenue from energy related products and services; providing high level account management; promoting energy conservation awareness; performing energy audits and inspections of commercial and industrial structures. In addition, successful candidates will develop and maintain strategic account plans for their assigned customer accounts, and utilize SMUD tracking tools and databases to establish and maintain customer interactions.

Major Duties & Responsibilities In this position you will:

  1. Reach out to thousands of customer in door-to-door informational "cold call" meetings, helping to develop and promote mass market campaigns, giving presentations to small to medium sized groups such as chambers or business groups, and leveraging customer success stories to promote word of mouth awareness of SMUD's numerous programs and services.
  2. Act as the primary point of contact for all commercial/industrial customers within assigned territory.  Identify customers' needs and issues, and offer or develop strategies to meet these needs. Educate customers about new products and services, rate options, and other offerings. Field questions from commercial/industrial customers with respect to the full spectrum of energy service delivery including technical and administrative service delivery. Make recommendations to customers regarding products and services that will be most beneficial and applicable to their individual situations.
  3. Participate in developing sales and marketing strategies and materials, and provide value-added recommendations to customers within your assigned service territory to ensure that the right product is being offered to your customers at the right time to aid them in their goals.
  4. Participate in professional associations and community organizations to increase technical energy knowledge and to market new products and services.  Regular presentations to these groups will be standard.
  5. Assist in the development of new policies and programs in response to commercial/industrial account customer needs by recommending, developing, and implementing improved policies and services.
  6. Present energy related case studies, proposals, cost estimates to management, customers and the public.
  7. Develop and maintain higher, wider and deeper customer relationships, and serve as the conduit between the customer and SMUD.
  8. Maintain all customer interactions in appropriate SMUD tracking tools and or databases.
