The Senior Master Meter Design Planner is responsible for the development and coordination of complex mobile home park (MHP) project planning and designs for the additions and modifications to company gas and electric facilities from onset through completion of project. Confers with Project Management, Engineering, Environmental Services and meets with key customers, customer representatives, government agencies, and other utilities in planning and coordinating additions and modifications to MHP gas and electric facilities. Responsible to mentor, coach and review designs of contractors/Customer Project Planners. Assist MHP owners with applications and design consulting for gas and electric load projections.
- Works with design contractors and Project Management to design and/or manage complex mobile home park (MHP) projects for additions and modifications to company gas and electric facilities as assigned.
- Mentors or provides training, coaching and design review for contractors/Customer Project Planners. Conducts meetings or presentations at department team or project meetings to train on standards, procedures, practices and to resolve site-specific and design issues.
- Reviews work orders completed by contractors/Customer Project Planners prior to submittal for approvals. Oversees or prepares construction orders with safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs that conform to company standards, safety orders, and governmental regulations.
- Ensure that the gas and electric design is in compliance with the Mobilehome Park Utility Upgrade Program (MHPUUP) Rules, Tariffs, CPUC Decision, HCD Guidelines and Utility standards.
- Independently manages several concurrent projects, assignments and activities. Interprets Company policies; mediates and resolves disputes.
- Solves problems and handles escalated issues in a timely manner to ensure project success.
- Initiates and develops plans to improve work processes and procedures. Continually refines to establish best practices.
- Ensures project documentation is completed and retained in the appropriate systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
External Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
- Requires a minimum of 5 years related experience in electric and preferably gas design. Experience as a Customer Project Planner preferred.
- Has thorough understanding of: business practices, job processes, engineering principles, company Overhead, Underground and Gas Standards, Design Manual, Service Planning Manual, Service Guide and CPUC Rules.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to expedite jobs and quickly solves issues for all customers.
- Demonstrated leadership through participation in training and mentoring and by exhibiting the core Sempra values.
- Demonstrated a strong focus on teamwork and achieving department and corporate goals.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer systems: CISCO, GFMS, PM Works, GIS, AutoCAD, Outlook.
- Self-managed worker.
