Job Summary

QA test engineer for Software House Access Control team located in Westford MA. This person will provide test and support for planned roadmap development such as Access Control Server/Client and associated hardware/firmware projects, as well as field support. They will support the full product family offered by Software House which includes the CCURE 9000 and iSTAR products. The software products are Windows based, hardware/firmware are a mix of Linux and Windows.

The engineer will be part of an established QA test team resposible for the testing of all Software,Hardware and Firmware projects. Will develop test plans and execute to those plans. Will use various Black Box /White Box test techniques to identify defects and assist in finding root cause. Validate product quality prior to release.

The will work with the Development, QA, Program Management, Product Management and Customer Support Team members.

Responsibilities

  • Review product functional specification and design requirements, plan test approach
  • Develop high level and detailed Test Procedures
  • Configure test environments and create data sets appropriate to qualify products
  • Test the actual product, performing regression of test cases as product matures
  • Identify Root cause of defects, working with development engineers
  • Utilize DFSS to improve product quality throughout product development cycle

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent relevant degree); or alternative qualification with equivalent industrial experience

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of effective test development methods and processes
  • Robust background in all phases of SDLC and QA development cycles (from authoring test plans to defect verification).
  • Windows and or Linux Operating System knowledge including performance monitoring and network topologies
  • SQL and database operation knowledge, including formulation of SQL queries
  • Experience in automated software testing tools, including developing scripts for use in automated test (e.g. QTP/UTF, Team Foundation Server and/or Silk Test)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, organizational and interpersonal skills 
  • Willing and open attitude to share knowledge.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful test applications deliverables
  • Self-motivation, tenacity, flexible and reliable in approach to work
