Description
This position involves the delivery and development of Silver Spring Networks (SSN) specific courseware for employees, business partners, and customers. Currently, the primary development format is lecture-lab and is quickly expanding to include online formats (web-based or internet-base, and Virtual Classroom Training).The objective is to deliver an effective training experience that raises the level of knowledge in our smart grid ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop SSN specific courseware in the area of Smart Grid Networking (Layers 2 - 7) Meters, Bridges, AP, Switches, Routers and Servers in the utilities markets including but not limited to Configuration, Troubleshooting, and Maintenance
- Conduct formal needs analysis to determine specific training needs
- Develop detailed hands-on labs to support the lecture
- Participate in the development of a style guide for SSN Technical Education (online & lecture-lab)
- Participate in mentoring /coaching of new employees
- Assist in the integration of 3rdparty courseware into the SSN's curriculum
- Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of Technical Support processes and procedures
- Participate in new product development rollout as it relates to skills development
- Partner with technical subject matter experts (SMEs) within the company, and at partners and customers as necessary, to develop training content
- Assist in the definition and implement various training delivery methodologies (e.g., web, ILT, virtual lab environment)
- Deliver all forms of training to employees, partners, and customers - note that this job may require 50% travel to partner / customer sites
Required Experience
- 3+ years experience delivering technical hands-on curriculum to a wide audience. Experience delivering via the web/internet is a plus
- 7+ years experience in a technical role in a high-tech corporation
- Demonstrated Instructional Design Skills
- Proven ability to develop self-paced courseware (Web-based, Video, or Paper-based)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Proven ability in facilitating the design, development, and implementation of processes and procedures
- Strong familiarity with network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls
- Working knowledge of Mac/PC systems (networking & OS)
- Any networking certification is a plus
- Ability to think strategically coupled with strong tactical execution, results driven
- Must be a self-starter and possess excellent organizational skills
