As part of the Safety team - provide trades expertise to the safety group and assistance on projects that will contribute to the delivery of the OH&S program.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the Province of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Code, and Regulations, the Safety Codes Act, A.E.U.C, and the ENMAX OH&S standards.
- Ensure proper care and use of vehicles, equipment and work sites
- Assist Safety Specialists in the research, development and implementation of the ENMAX OH&S programs and special projects.
- Recognize hazardous conditions identified on the job and know the principles of how to effectively deal with them.
- Promote established ENMAX OH&S rules and safe work practices.
- Participate in the regularly scheduled Safety Meetings and assist with the follow-up action(s).
- Assist Safety Specialists in educating ENMAX personnel on OH&S issues/rules.
- Conduct crew visits and advise on safety practices.
- Assist with safety incident investigations by providing applicable trade related expertise and insights.
- Provides trade specific content and assist with safety presentation delivery.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Must meet ENMAX Corporation's requirements as to qualifications and must be qualified under the Apprenticeship and Industry Training Act with respect to the related electrical trade
- Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Practices (SWOPs)
- Journeyman Powerline Technician or Journeyman Power System Electrician certification. Must be qualified under the Alberta Manpower Development Act with respect to the related electrical trade.
- Must have demonstrated leadership qualities and promoted safe work practices in the course of past work.
- Must have a general knowledge of the principles of electric utility construction, maintenance and facility operations.
- Must have a valid Class 3 Province of Alberta driver's license. Upgrade as required.
- Must possess a strong technical proficiency and demonstrated communication and computer skills.
- Must be willing to upgrade qualifications as required
