JOB SUMMARY

Grid Control and Connectivity with offices in Alameda, CA and Chicago, IL, is responsible for best in class electricity Distribution Automation and Wireless Communication products and solutions for the worldwide Smart Grid.  Included in this position is the support of intelligent embedded software devices include microprocessor-based capacitor, switch, and fault interrupting controls; patented peer-to-peer feeder restoration systems; and the associated device management software. In this position, you will report to the Embedded and Device Management Software Engineering manager.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Contributing to the development of project schedules, task and project completion time estimates, software specifications and test plans.
  • Conducting and/or managing all necessary development work pertinent to software design including, architecture design, specifications, analysis, design, implementation, testing and related documentation.
  • Designing, developing, and enhancing device management software applications that connect remotely to embedded control applications in the field to support the input of configuration data, visual presentation of data, logs and results, including graphical presentation of data, and other interactions with networked embedded applications.
  • Participating in peer reviews of UI design and source code.
  • Working with product managers and senior software engineers to assure product designs meet the requirements of the market.
  • Working with application engineers to resolve software related customer issues
  • Working collaboratively with software and testing engineers to deliver reliable, user friendly software applications.

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • Ten plus years of experience in the design and development of software applications with a focus on expert level direct product development using C#, Microsoft .NET framework, Visual Studio, WPF/XAML, WCF and related technologies.
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Technical and data architectural experience.
  • Strong understanding of GOF.
  • Experience with web development tools and technologies.
  • Strong GUI design on current Windows platforms.
  • Experience developing software in a team environment using industry standard software lifecycle tools including code archival and bug and enhancement tracking software, preferably the Atlassian platform.
  • Demonstrated analytical problem solving expertise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with PRISM and dependency injection a plus.
  • Salesforce experience a plus.
  • Proficient with Oracle systems a plus.
  • Interest in and experience with electric grid automation, smart grid, or the utility industry a plus.
