JOB SUMMARY

Grid Control and Connectivity with offices in Alameda, CA and Chicago, IL is responsible for best in class electricity Distribution Automation and Wireless Communication products and solutions, worldwide.  Included in this position is the Software Architecture definition for intelligent embedded software devices related to evolving modernized grid cyber security initiatives.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead architecture and technical direction of product lines, incorporating cyber security.
  • Collaborate with agile teams of Developers, QA, and Production Support to drive improvements.
  • Ensure the technology objectives are aligned to the business goals and architectural consistency across the entire product.
  • Conceive, prototype, and evangelize approaches for new software applications, including web, mobile, and server.
  • Work with marketing and system architects to assure product designs meets current and future potential market cyber security requirements.
  • Develop and contribute to the development of project schedules, task and project completion time estimates, detailed software specifications and associated device-level software architecture embodiments.
  • Work collaboratively with upstream system architects and downstream software and testing engineers to deliver reliable, mission critical embedded software.
  • Conduct and/or manage all necessary architecture embodiment work pertinent to system interfaces and device level software architecture design and test related to securing interfaces
  • Strong experience with risk definition, quantification, and mitigation techniques
  • Work with Application Engineers to ensure smooth integration into customer systems

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Computer Engineering, or related fields. MS degree preferred.
  • Experience with embedded operating systems such as uClinux, VxWorks, or custom kernels.
  • Ten years of experience in the software architecture definition, design and development of real-time, mission critical embedded software.
  • Understanding of NISTR 7628 guidelines and NERC-CIP initiatives.
  • Experience with Role Based Administrative Control techniques, hardware security modules, and digital signature techniques
  • Experience with securing wireless transceiver platforms, SoCs, and associated interfaces.
  • Experience implementing and securing protocols over TCP/IP.
  • Understanding of cryptographic primitives such as AES and public key cryptography.
  • Familiarity with Public Key Infrastructure, X.509 certificate structures, TLS and modern cipher suites
  • Strong software architecture documentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time with rare periods lasting more than a week.
  • US Citizenship.

In addition the following are desirable, but not required:

  • Security+ or Certificate Information System Security Professional (CISSP), CSSLP, and/or ISC2 certifications.
  • Experience with board level debug and logic analyzers.
  • Experience writing device drivers such as I2C drivers.
  • Java programming experience.
  • Android mobile application development.
  • RESTful API experience.
  • Experience with secure elements and Java Card.
  • Experience with DNP secure authentication or security for electric utility protocols.
  • Familiarity with systems, protocols, and standards such as SCADA, MODBUS, and 61850 used in the utility industry
