We are seeking a Software Engineer to work within our IoT Infrastructure Group. This role is responsible for developing the supporting infrastructure to connect devices for a wide range of IoT applications, including protocol and architectural design, implementation, and deployment. This role will also develop interfaces to third-party ecosystems to enhance the capabilities of connected devices.

Responsibilities

  • Build connectivity solutions for IoT devices, including infrastructure development and interfaces to third-party ecosystems
  • Perform all aspects of software development. This includes, but is not limited to, requirements and specifications, design and development, coding and debugging, testing, and integration of embedded devices and systems. The result is intended for production and commercial deployment and must meet quality objectives, engineering methodologies, and company guidelines.
  • Develop scripts to aid in automated unit, regression, and integration tests to meet quality expectations. Understand appropriate verification practices and tools.
  • Interpret, understand, and provide feedback on software requirements for active projects
  • Work and interface with cross-functional design teams
  • Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources
  • Develop code that is consistently well documented and maintainable
  • Assess, utilize and integrate third party and open source software
  • Support software deployment and provide post production support
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes

Skills & Qualifications

  • MS in Computer Science or related field, or BS with equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in field
  • Knowledge and understanding of network protocols, including TCP and UDP
  • Knowledge and understanding of network security concepts and cryptography
  • Proficiency with C/C++ and Python
  • Proficiency with Unix shell scripting
  • Experience with Linux and/or FreeBSD configuration and application development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Erlang or Elixir
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, ELB, DynamoDB, Redshift, Firebase, ElastiCache, AWS IoT, etc.
  • Familiarity with Agile and/or Lean development practices such as Scrum, XP, and Kanban
  • Experience with developing IoT solutions, including firmware or mobile app development.
  • Experience with building automation and control networks and BACnet protocol.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Avon, CT.
