Description

The Environmental Professional position with a strong focus in air permitting is one role within a job family.  The job family includes other roles which may require skill, experience, and credentials, etc.  The level at which this position is offered is dependent upon the skills and abilities of the successful candidate.   

Responsibilities/Job Description: 

The individual in this position is responsible for environmental compliance with state and Federal air, water, SPCC, and waste regulations within the Central Region.  The individual will interface with a diverse group of customers including Region project engineering, Region operations, and state and Federal regulatory agencies.  Accountabilities and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to: review and completion of environmental reports to state and Federal agencies (Air: compliance certification, semi-annual reports, deviation reports, emission inventories; update environmental management data systems; visit sites to participate in various local work projects; assist the Region Engineering and Technical teams with project scope development and application of specific environmental regulations; assist in development and delivery of professional training for multiple subject areas to include air, water, waste management, and company standard operating procedures).  Individual may also be called upon to participate in various industry organizations, internal audits, and on committees for the development and review of environmental operating systems, standard operating procedures, and assessment of potential state and Federal regulations.

Requirements

Basic/Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in environmental or related field and four (4) years of experience with knowledge and practical experience with EPA regulations including, , CAA, RCRA, and CWA
    • OR  seven years related environmental work experience  may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement; 
  • Must possess a valid driver license and be able to accommodate overnight travel (20-50%, not expected over weekends).  

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with a customer-focused outlook;
  • Able to provide clear environmental direction and support to client groups in diverse settings (office and operating locations);
  • Proven ability to work and achieve results in a collaborative team environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
  • Proficiency in use of computers and software products such as MS Office software suite;
  • Proven organizational and project management skills to work multiple projects through to completion;
  • Environmental Professional Certification(s) or Advanced Degree(s) with emphasis in Air compliance;
  • Knowledge of Environmental Management System concepts and practices;
  • Knowledge of emission stack testing and emission control technologies;
  • Demonstrated analytical and math skills;
  • Experience in the Energy Industry;
  • Experience performing Environmental audits;
  • Familiarity with OSHA construction industry regulations; and
  • Incident investigation experience.

Additional Expectations 

The Environmental professional is expected to be an advocate for the Enbridge environmental programs and be a resource for employees from operations staff to upper level management, to work independently with minimal supervision, to set priorities and complete work tasks, and to demonstrate the initiative to resolve issues through creative problem solving in both independent and team environments. 

Environmental professionals are expected to have completed the 5-day TapRoot or similar root cause training.  Completion of this training will be expected within the year if not previously attended.
