Job Summary:

Mid-level engineer who applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. They are not only expected to identify problems, but also provide solutions. Their tasks may include complex issues in a specific field of engineering. In addition, provides leadership role for teams on problems of medium scope.

Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for assigned engineering support program area including meeting budgets, implementing strategies, and monitoring results
  • Ensures program compliance with applicable regulations, codes and standards
  • Maintains awareness of industry performance issues through research, self assessment, and benchmarking and incorporates lessons learned
  • Makes recommendations based on the analysis and trending of plant data
  • Performs task oversight for contract support services
  • Provides expertise including development of plant practices and procedures and provides technical directions in one or more specialized areas
  • Provides leadership to others in the form of work directions, mentoring or training
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Science.
  • Six years of related experience in plant design / construction / operation or maintenance applicable Navy nuclear experience equally acceptable, five plus years with a Master degree or three plus years with a Doctorate degree.
  • Nuclear Licensing experience is preferred
  • Preferred: Strong organizational, written and verbal skills, with demonstrated competencies in technical writing, facilitation and decision making.
  • Security screening and drug testing is required for access.
  • Physical capability to work in the plant i.e. climb stairs, work in hot environment, work in radiation/contamination areas.
