Trimble is recruiting for a Regional Sales Manager to fill a remote opportunity in the U.S.

Job Summary:

Trimble Energy delivers comprehensive, modular enterprise solutions to Electric and Gas utilities enabling them to streamline their business operations, optimizing asset management decisions, meet compliance requirements as well as boost field worker productivity, enhance customer service and speed emergency response times.

As the Trimble Energy business grows we are looking to hire an experienced Utility GIS sales professional for the Western USA region.  The successful candidate will have Investor Owned Utility (IOU) knowledge and understand the business challenges that these companies face.  The primary focus is electric, but gas experience is a bonus.  The ability to describe and understand workflow process for the various different tasks that are performed at utilities such as design, planning, operations and maintenance will be critical for success.  Knowledge of other systems such as CIS, IVR, SCADA, AVL, AMI/AMR and the interfacing requirements would be a bonus.

One of the main areas of focus is asset management - from 3D visualization through to strategic planning for the future of the utility.  This includes financial planning based on asset information and condition through to where to best invest to maximize the ROI that the utility gets.  Today Trimble provides a number of tools to manage that and as infrastructure continues to age this will provide some much needed insight and analyses for the industry to better plan, build and maintain their networks.

The role is primarily a direct sales role, however interaction will be required with Trimble's distribution partner network as they provide a significant level of product, support and training for the utility market.  As such an understanding of Trimble's field data collection and inspection solutions is desirable.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets in the assigned region.
  • Actively follow up all potential sales opportunities and work directly with customers or with distribution partners to close sales
  • Interface and develop relationships with specific customer targets
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations, which will often be technical in nature
  • Explain return on investment (ROI) and clear financial benefits of the Utility portfolio
  • Provide field/market feedback to the organize through regular reporting, including competitive landscape and industry dynamics
  • Transparently maintain sales pipeline information and provide regular, reliable forecasts
  • Actively participate in regional industry events, as well as direct Trimble events as required

Critical Competencies​ :

  • Driven, with strong sense of urgency
  • Electric Utility domain experience is critical
  • Gas Utility experience is a bonus
  • Proven sales success in the IOU utility market
  • Strong solution selling and problem solving skills - ability to evaluate and adapt solutions to solve critical customer issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good listener - able to understand complex customer requirements around disparate systems and integrations
  • Ability to work independently and achieve outstanding results, while at the same time being a key contributor to a dispersed national team

Measures of Success:

  • Improved relationships and focus on the IOU market
  • Meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Established and validated sales pipeline
  • Understanding the Trimble portfolio of Utility specific solutions and applying them effectively to the customer

Skills & Experience Required:

  • 4 year degree preferred
  • 5+ years of industry specific experience required                                                      
  • Fluent English                                              
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the utility GIS business, mobile computing and/or mobility solutions market
  • Familiarity with with industry systems such as Schneider's ARC/FM or GE's Smallworld is a bonus
  • Must have professional appearance and possess strong leadership characteristics
  • Demonstrated PC application skills including Excel and Word and PowerPoint                       
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required                                                                   
  • Strong presentation and demonstration skills required​
