OMICRON is a leading manufacturer of primary and secondary test equipment for electric power systems. The Sales and Application Engineer, Partial Discharge Diagnostics will be responsible for developing sales and providing technical and application support of OMICRON partial discharge diagnostic and monitoring products and services. This position will be located in Waltham, MA or Houston, TX and reporting to the NA Regional Sales Manager.

Essential job functions:

  • Responsible for sales and business development of the OMICRON partial discharge diagnostic solutions in North America.
  • Provide technical and application support to customers for OMICRON partial discharge diagnostic and monitoring products.
  • Support our North American sales team with customer visits and trainings
  • Give sales support and produce leads through attending trade shows and take an active part in conferences.
  • Carry out customer services related to diagnostics and monitoring of high voltage equipment especially partial discharge measurements; you will develop solutions for challenging problems regarding measurement techniques.
  • Support our product management with your ideas deriving from your service experiences with existing customers to improve our products and will lead to new innovative solutions; you will translate market requirements into technical specifications.
  • Support the Marketing communication (MC) team to promote partial discharge measuring products by providing a contribution on advertising and literature.
  • Manage and update the customer database, market opportunities, sales forecast using the Customer Relation Management (CRM) system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the NA Regional Sales Manager.
Requirements

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Have first-hand experience in Partial Discharge measurements
  • Have experience in the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) business area (e.g. power transformer, bushing, instrument transformer, cable, rotating machine manufacturers)
  • Have a very good knowledge of English communication and organizational skills are among your strengths
  • Have a solutions oriented work style and good presentation skills
  • You are creative and innovative
  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally on occasion.

Work experience:

  • You have general knowledge of power systems, especially in the field of power transformers typically obtained during 5-10 years of experience.
  • Experience in sales and/or dealing with customers

Education requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably in power systems and high voltage apparatus
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred

  • Hazards such as those encountered in electrical substation environments, such as the presence of high voltage, and other sources of electrical shock may be encountered. May be required to use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): hard hats, safety boots, ear protection, safety glasses, fall restraint, FR clothing.
