The Advanced Data & Analytics team's mission is to transform National Grid into a modern, insights-driven enterprise.  To wit, the Advanced Computational Analytics team creates Insight and Analytical Engines. The Data Science team delivers insights from the Insight Engines and other sources, as needed.   The Advanced Analytics Adoption team is charged with working with all the other ADA teams to ensure that the insights delivered are transformed into business value by the end-to-end processes, leading to the development of an Insights Culture at National Grid. We want you if you i) share our sense of purpose, ii) exhibit the passion it takes to transform a company, and iii) possess the skillsets needed to help us manage agile projects related to a substantial investment in capability build in the ADA team to make National Grid ready for the future.

As a Project Manager in the Advanced Data & Analytics (ADA) team, you will assist the ADA team in managing high-priority projects on-time and on-budget through facilitating all activities associated with an individual project in accordance with the established policies, procedures, and requirements of the ADA team. The Project Manager will proactively monitor projects throughout the project life cycle from inception to completion. This individual will play a significant role within the department as a day-to-day project manager to drive consistency of managing and governing projects across the portfolio. The Project Manager reports to the Director, Advanced Data & Analytics and has responsibility to ensure the promised benefits are achieved and aligned with National Grid's goals and strategy.  You will serve as the primary interface with Finance to ensure proper benefits and cost tracking related to the Shaping Our Future investment in Advanced Analytics.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Assist with pre-project preparations, including:
    • Project Sprint scoping, planning, and costs and benefits estimation.
    • Provide oversight on the Statement of Work (SOW) created by external vendors.
    • Identify and prepare resourcing plans (external/internal).
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of one or more projects, including:
    • Development of high-level project plans and budgets.
    • Establishment of milestones and deliverables for assigned projects.
    • Management and execution of project plans.
    • Direction and facilitation of all project meetings, including status meetings.
    • Preparation and maintenance of actions/issues log to be reviewed during regular project meetings.
    • Communication of relevant project status and issue information to the PMO team, project stakeholders, and Finance leadership.
    • Work to minimize risk and exposure on projects.
    • Track project outcomes to measure benefits realization.
    • Provide oversight in creating project status presentations for Finance leadership.
  • Execute Project Change Management duties:
    • Prepare all change orders and report changes.
    • Revise project objectives and deliverables as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Execute project close activities accurately and timely.
    • Ensure that all project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.
    • Provide lessons learned.
  • Provide leadership to project team, including:
    • Communicate all, including difficult/sensitive information in a timely manner.
    • Inspire others to attain goals and pursue excellence.
    • Identify opportunities for improvement; make constructive suggestions for change.
    • Promote teamwork.
    • Assist in improving ADA policies and procedures.
Requirements

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • 5-10 years' experience required in program and/or project planning, delivery, and management.
  • Bachelor's degree in business-related field is required; MBA degree is preferred.
  • Both a strong technology and business acumen are required.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work and challenge all levels of management.
  • Ability to foster and build a collaborative working relationship with various stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite, particularly with Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in new venture financial modeling (pro forma) would be strongly preferred.
