With over 100 years of experience, EPCOR Water Canada works with industry, municipalities and communities to design, build, finance and operate water and wastewater treatment plants, distribution and collection systems. We serve more than 85 communities and industrial sites in B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan, making sure that the water exceeds public health, environmental and industrial requirements.

Brief Description

Do you possess a strong service orientation, excellent work ethic and the ability to work collaboratively within a team dynamic? If so, EPCOR Water Services has one full-time permanent Operator position available, based out of Britannia Beach, BC.

Please note: Full-time permanent employees at the Britannia Beach site may qualify for the bi-weekly housing allowance program.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the Lead Hand, the Operator is accountable for:

  • Operation of the Britannia Mine Water Treatment Plant
  • Working co-operatively with team members and using other resources to complete site responsibilities.
  • Sampling and laboratory analysis
  • Operation and maintenance of plant equipment such as a filter press, polymer system, lime system, etc.
  • Monitoring and meeting internal quality standards (i.e. Quality Assurance, Safety & Environmental).
  • Collecting data for monthly regulatory and operational reporting as required.
  • Generating and analyzing reports as required (i.e. monthly/annual reports, and safety reports).
  • Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshooting day-to-day operational issues and developing solutions to rectify these issues.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Level II certification in Water or Wastewater Treatment or higher. 
  • Post secondary diploma or certificate in Water and/or Wastewater technology  preferred.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office products) and the ability to assist with data collection and report writing are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Participating in the on-call rotation, responding to call-outs, and shift coverage.
  • Able to meet the physical demands required of this position. Clearance on a pre-placement medical test will be required.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Motor Vehicle Operator's License (with 6 demerits or less). A Driver Abstract will be required.
  • Clearance on a security background check is required.
  • The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Additional Details

Jurisdiction: Out of Scope

Location: Britannia Beach, BC

Wage: $32.76 - $34.95 per hour (Wage placement is determined based on level of certification, education and experience.)

Britannia Beach Housing Allowance: Full-time permanent employees at the Britannia Beach site may qualify for the bi-weekly housing allowance program.

Hours of Work: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week working consecutive days. Overtime, weekend and shift work may be required.

The successful candidate must also participate in the on-call rotation system and be able to respond within the response time as per EPCOR requirements. Out of town work may be required.
