Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a dedicated, detailed, and professional individual for our Architectural Drafter position. Responsibilities:- Work under the technical supervision of architect to gather data.
- Assist in preparing commercial construction drawings under the direction of the architect.
- Assist in preparing technical specifications under the direction of the architect.
- Retrieve information to complete drawings, layout and design.
- Assist in review of construction documents.
- Develop and maintain an acceptable level of expertise in detailed design practices of SEL. standards of Construction.
- Complete assigned work and submit within timelines and budgets with a high level of quality to architect.
- Follow and improve applicable processes.
- Supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
- Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in CAD, Drafting or relevant discipline or possess equivalent experience for each academic year
- Minimum of two years of preparing commercial construction documents
- Demonstrate competency in AutoCAD drafting AutoCAD 2010 or newer
- Willing to travel up to 20% both nationally and internationally
- Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
- Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Background check results satisfactory to SEL
- Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Architectural degree from an accredited program
- Understanding of current Building Codes
- Ability to create and maintain commercial construction drafting standards
- Ability to create and maintain commercial construction digital detail libraries
- Ability to create and maintain record document archive
- 3D modeling software experience
