Summary

The Corrosion Control Specialist is self-directed with independent decision making responsibilities pertaining to gas distribution galvanic CP systems. This individual has the responsibility for maintaining corrosion related databases and performing formal corrosion related in-house training. They are responsible for the preservation of the integrity of the gas distribution and transmission piping as well as other corporate facilities by minimizing the deterioration of buried steel pipeline systems through the application of corrosion control engineering practices, and compliance with regulations and industry standards. They will perform these responsibilities in a safe and innovative manner to insure customer needs are met and value is added to the corporation. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform rectifier inspections, cathodic protection surveys, CP Troubleshooting and make recommendations for any required remedial action to insure code compliance and pipeline integrity.  
  • Maintain CP databases and compile reports for code compliance and system analysis. 
  • Assist Field Operations Managers with regulatory audits and inspections as they pertain to CP related subjects and documentation. 
  • Conduct corrosion prevention training for other employees as necessary
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 years post high school training in Math or Science from an approved Technical/Trade school or equivalent work experience.
  • NACE International CP Technician or Corrosion Technician certification or equivalent.
  • 3 - 5 years as Corrosion Control Technician or equivalent work experience.
  • Computer competencies in data entry and reporting.
