Summary
Xcel Energy has an opportunity for a summer internship with the Information Technology organization. This unique internship will offer access to work with the IT Service Delivery - Software Asset Management and Demand and release Management areas. The successful candidate will gain insight and exposure to the elements of how IT Service Delivery works. Over the course of the summer (30-40 hours weekly), the intern will work on specific projects within IT Service Delivery with a final presentation expected. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in several site visit opportunities as well as intern networking engagements.
IT Service Delivery - how does IT contribute to company results (business objectives and goals as well as strategic planning)
IT Service Delivery -Distribution- The intern will IT Service Delivery with daily tasks and needs. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
Software Asset Management
- Manage a list of applications in each area validating that each application had support staff, application health, SLA's and key measure defined
- Assist in the maintenance of a list of applications, support costs, maintenance renewals, etc. that are used across IT Service Delivery and all of Business Systems
- Review requests for software, approve these requests and process new software purchases as needed
- Become proficient in our Asset Management tool, running queries, reports, adding new licenses/vendors, etc.
- Assist in the tracking of licenses that are not part of the Asset Management tool currently
Demand and Release Management
- Creating/ monitoring/updating Joint Goals Metrics on Sharepoint
- Mapping applications to towers updating ITSM and TROUX with updated owner information Identifying/ validating vendor contact information for supported applications
- Assist with Sharepoint migration activities and documentation management activities
- Assist with developing/modifying Business Objects reports for specific Service Delivery requests
- Assist with creating Service Delivery Dashboards
- Creating functional requirements documentation for enhancement requests
The applicant must be energetic and competent, and willing to commit to a minimum of 30-40 hours a week over the summer within the Xcel Energy Information Technology organization. The applicant's graduation date must not precede the completion date of the summer internship program.
Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing an undergraduate degree in the field of computer science, management information systems, computer engineering, engineering, mathematics, analytics, or business. Must be a current student. No graduate student applicants please.
- Freshman through Senior standing (must not be graduated if senior)
- High academic standing - GPA of 3.2 or higher
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong work ethic and initiative
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Any experiences with the following technologies would be desired - SharePoint, Windows, Project Management Experience, application support
