Description

In a team environment, the Assembler will build complex assemblies having both optical and electro-mechanical components. This is a hands-on position in the performance of assembly and test activities through the use of well-established assembly and test procedures.  Perform various types of sub-assembly and preparation activities as well as the overall integration, polishing and final calibration at the complete and certified product level. She/he will assist the engineering group to solve complex design problems as well as ensuring that we deliver quality product on time and one that will meet or exceed customer specifications.

Reports to: Production Supervisor                           

Responsibilities:

  • The Assembler's primary responsibility will be to support all LumaShield products thorough knowledge of all procedures and processes required that comply with published product specifications:
  • Perform assembly tasks using hand tools, such as: Tube Cutters, Screw Drivers, Heat Guns, Tape Measure, Digital Calipers and established Calibration Equipment.  
  • Build OEC, OIC, OTG fiber optic probes and extensions from start to finish.
  • Test and calibration of sub-assemblies and final assemblies.
  • Follow drawings, written and verbal instructions to complete work assignments.
  • Determine job status (check shortage and close of work orders, etc.)
  • Ensure BOM accuracy
  • Generate RED LINE Drawing and BOM as required
  • Reference all pertinent procedures, drawings, and specifications for the purposed changes
  • Physically locate job materials within the assembly area
  • Ensure on time deliveries
  • Actively participate during the assembly and integration of production released and first time builds
  • Communicate documentations issues via red lines   
  • Ensure  efficiency, safety  and  cleanliness  of the assembly  area
  • Assist to develop and implement ideas and procedures for process and cost improvement.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' work experience in a similar field is preferred.
  • Candidate must be familiar working and handling of raw fiber as well as fiber cable.
  • Must be familiar with fiber termination techniques
  • Must be familiar with bonding processes using various types of epoxies
  • Have sound judgment, and ability to make sound decisions 
  • Task planning and the ability to coordinate with team members.
  • Able and willing to train others.
  • Inspects and verifies that work is complete and correct.
  • Good hand /eye dexterity and coordination.
  • Attention to detail a MUST
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are a MUST.
  • Be available to work extra hrs. To ensure we meet customer expectations as well as our company financial goals.
  • Sound knowledge of Word and excel are a must.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Bending and stooping occasionally.
  • Frequently standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Ability to use small-handled tools using repetitive hand movement for an entire shift or long periods of time.
  • Hand dexterity and ability to work with small component assembly.
  • Good eye to hand coordination is a MUST.
