Based on our customers' needs, opportunities are expected to be available starting second quarter of 2017. Positions range from temporary contract term to regular full time status at junior, intermediate and senior levels.

At this time, this solicitation is for the following position, which may be changed to meet project requirements

An Electrical and I&C Design Technician / Technologist is required to carry out various aspects of electrical & I&C drafting design for various plant systems.  Clients for this work are the various CANDU power plant utilities in Canada and abroad as well as internal Candu clients such as CNL Site and various Project groups. 

Duties will be carried out under the direction/guidance of respective system engineers or drafting Technical Lead.  The work may include the following but not limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare layout drawings of and to perform the necessary design calculations and material specifications.
  • Prepare sketches of details and check the preparation of these details drawings by others
  • Prepare flow and schematic drawings from fairly detailed verbal or written instructions and rough sketches.
  • Prepare drawings of moderately complex equipment and buildings.
  • Carry out revisions to moderately complex drawings of equipment and installations with only verbal or rough sketches provided.
  • Provide technical illustrations of equipment and buildings with only rough sketches and general verbal instructions.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist in providing responses to technical enquiries from design review team and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare drafting estimates, schedule and costing for various proposals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to budget and schedule on all assigned tasks.
  • Assist in providing support to with facility design engineers, engineering groups at site.
  • Deliver technical presentations accurately and effectively.
  • Manage assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, managing schedule, budget, and reporting, to meet project goals.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a working knowledge of design drafting technique and practice.
  • Must be capable of producing neat, legible and accurate drawings in a reasonable time.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of standard equipment and materials.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of shop and field practice.
  • Must be able to work effectively with others.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrate good technical skills and problem-solving capabilities, and be able to seek practical solutions to the engineers
  • Site experience in the design, construction, or commissioning of plant electrical systems, for nuclear or fossil-fuel generating stations would be an asset.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

INTERMEDIATE - SENIOR: would include Basic qualifications plus the following

Experience commensurate with the grade level, with a minimum of 5 years of pertinent engineering experience
