The Manager of Software Engineering for Lighting Systems will be responsible for setting and executing the teams software development activities aligned with the short and long term business and technology Connected Building Lighting Internet of Things strategy.  This will include on-time delivery of high quality software programs from the Atlanta and Peachtree City GA development centers as well as leveraging broader resources at Eaton Software Center of Excellence and third party organizations.    This leader will play a critical role in ensuring Eaton delivers a high quality product, using world class software, rigorous system validation testing, with clear documentation of designs, user's guides, training material and work practices on a variety of media in one of Eaton's fastest growing business segments.

 Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and direct multiple projects and teams, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities
  • Lead, mentor, and build a team of top software engineers in an agile environment
  • Maintain a best-in-class engineering team based upon teamwork, innovation, training, and dedication to quality
  • Work closely with the other engineering and product leadership teams to design and develop enterprise software for connected lighting systems.
  • Participate in product planning, design and review meetings
  • Monitor the activities of the software engineering team to remove any roadblocks and ensure timely completion of all work tasks
  • Oversee development of product requirements, specifications, designs, and use cases, using fact-based input from diverse sources including customers, sales, engineering, market research, industry standards, etc.
  • Lead maintenance and support of existing software applications.
Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in software development
  • Minimum 3  years' experience  in engineering management or project management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with hands-on, software development; including requirements analysis, design, coding, debugging and test
  • Minimum 1 year experience leading front end web applications and mobile app development using HTML5, JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks, etc.
  • Minimum 1 year experience leading application development with Java, C++, or C#.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Scrum Master Certification
  • 5 years of experience in software product development
  • 5 years of experience in controls or process automation industry

  • Good understanding of Software development life cycle
  • Superior ability to align solutions with business objectives using sound judgment
  • Excellent understanding of project/program management principles including Agile, Scrum, and Continuous Integration.

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to follow directions.
