Description
Position Overview:
The primary function of the Automation Engineer is to assist in the design and implementation of manufacturing technology to automate production processes, as a part of continuous improvement initiatives. As a member of the maintenance team, assists with the leadership of the maintenance department.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in the identification, design, implementation, installation and maintenance of manufacturing technology to increase productivity and efficiency in the manufacturing plant.
- Assists in programming efforts for new or existing automated manufacturing equipment.
- Assists maintenance technicians with troubleshooting existing equipment and works with maintenance personnel to solve issues and find solutions.
- Leads capital projects as assigned, including the creation of C.A.R.s for approval, to generate cost savings or improve infrastructure.
- Supports building and grounds activities and preventative and predictive maintenance schedules and processes.
- Participates in understanding and adhering to OSHA, FM Global, MESH and EPA regulations. Makes sure that equipment, processes and grounds meet all requirements.
- Participates in understanding and adhering to ISO 14001 and 9001 standards.
- Assists plant engineer as needed.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing setting
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
- Experience in PLC, Robotics, HMI Programming and automation systems.
- Experience with power management systems.
- Knowledge of switchgear and power distribution systems.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Ability to work with a team.
- Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements such as OSHA and EPA Standards.
