PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Our approach to Organizational Change Management focuses on transitions - helping organizations bridge the gap from current to future state in the quickest and most efficient way.  Our goal is to accelerate the acceptance of change as well as enable the sustainability of the change.  The IT Organizational Transformation Sr. Manager will make significant contributions to a broad range of high impact initiatives designed to support the development of leadership excellence and improve the overall effectiveness of the organization.   

The IT Organizational Transformation Sr. Manager will facilitate organizational transformation of the Exelon IT Culture and ensure IT Leaders have the necessary development paths in place to achieve success.

The Exelon IT Organizational Transformation Senior Manager is part of the Organizational Change Management Office, facilitating the execution of change and communication programs that help to ensure the success and effectiveness of change initiatives within the IT organization itself.

The IT Organizational Transformation Senior Manager is a Change, Communications, and Training thought leader, responsible for designing and executing Organizational Change Management activities for the Organizational Change Management Office, within the IT Office of the CIO.  The IT Organizational Transformation Senior Manager is accountable for supporting the IT Transformation Journey, designing strategic, organizational changes, and assisting with the governance of the OCM Management Model.

The IT Organizational Transformation Senior Manager will work with the IT Leadership team and other stakeholders to ensure effective change strategies are utilized to help employees transition from the current state to the desired future state of the IT organization.  The IT Organizational Transformation Senior Manager will provide oversight to key Creative Arts, Media, and Strategic Communications team members.

The individual within the role should be a strategic, critical thinking who is able to:

  • Effectively translate business strategy into practical organizational change, communications, and training strategies
  • Effectively manage relationships within the matrixed organization
  • Resolve and coordinate complex issues associated with driving change within IT
  • Provide QA reviews of change, communications, and training for large-scale, transformational IT programs

The IT Organizational Transformation Senior Manager is a key participant in the development and execution of the Change, Communications, and Training elements within the Organizational Change Management component of the IT Management Model.

This position reports to the Director IT, Organizational Change Management who reports to the VP of the Office of the CIO.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Build strong relationships with IT leaders to become a trusted advisor to the Office of the CIO and the IT leadership team, providing strategic change and leadership development support with the goal of helping the IT organization achieve its strategic objectives and meet their complex change needs; enterprise-wide impacts and scope. 10%

Ensure effective execution of change leadership and process excellence strategies and tactics within the IT organization, developing appropriate metrics and methods of evaluation; provide strategic direction to the IT Leadership team on transformation efforts with the goal of helping Exelon achieve its objectives; enterprise wide impacts and scope. 10%

Organizational Transformation 40%

  • Direct the design, planning, and implementation of Exelon IT's organizational transformation journey including programs, projects and initiatives that support the IT Vision, IT Behaviors, and supports the achievement of the IT Business Plan
  • Champion strategic Organizational Change Management initiatives and suggests enhancements to existing initiatives.
  • Support the governance and oversight of the OCM Management Model to ensure change practitioners adhere to consistent methodology.
  • Identify opportunities for improving leadership performance and accelerating change by applying conceptual frameworks, technologies, and methods aligned to Exelon IT's Management Model and strategic focus areas.
  • Use internal data analysis (employee survey, performance and quality metrics, etc.) and external research to appropriately anticipate and articulate emerging organizational needs at enterprise and department levels, identifying patterns and trends.
  • Leverage knowledge from IT surveys, observation and other input to create enterprise-wide reports on change initiatives; analyze all inputs and ask probing questions to recommend effective ways to share key messages.
  • Implement strategic plans to align mission, vision, values and IT behaviors with IT Strategy and business plan.

Culture Transformation and Leadership Development 30%

  • Execute a strategic plan to effect culture transformation, increase employee engagement, and develop employees to ensure employees are dedicated to the mission, understand the vision, and live and demonstrate the values of Exelon. 
  • Design and implement change methods to integrate disparate, siloed cultures and leadership styles throughout the IT organization into One Exelon IT.
  • Execute change and communication strategies for organizational changes and specific IT function events (i.e., Key Managers Meetings, Key Manager/Manager Meetings, Exec Team Meetings, etc.)
  • Leverage knowledge from IT surveys, observation and other input to create enterprise-wide reports on change initiatives; analyze all inputs and ask probing questions to recommend effective ways to share key messages.
  • Use organizational surveys, assessments or similar tools to evaluate culture, engagement, and loyalty of employees; assist OpCo leaders with tools and data and support action planning.
  • Build strong relationships with business unit partners and become a trusted advisor to the Office of the CIO leadership team.

Support internal business operations best practices & research; stay current with organizational development and culture building methods and recommend use as appropriate. 5%

Other tasks as required. 5% 

Requirements

Qualifications  (POSITION SPECIFICATIONS)

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Business Management, Change Management, or related discipline (Master's Degree preferred)
  • 15+ years' experience developing, adapting and applying appropriate methods and tools used in Organization, Culture Transformation and Performance Diagnosis, Intervention, Improvement and Change Leadership
  • 10+ years' experience in Change Management associated with small to moderately-sized change initiatives
  • Experience/knowledge of Organizational Change Management principles, methodologies, and tools.  Able to identify who is impacted by a change and how.  Able to foster advocacy and ownership.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills, business acumen and project management skills
  • Deep experience/knowledge in Leadership Development principles and methodologies. 
  • Experience effectively influencing and consulting with leaders at all levels, including executives
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to express messages in different ways in order to facilitate a better understanding.  
  • Experience influencing and shaping leadership decision making, ensuring leaders are committed to goals, aligned with program plans, and mobilized to provide active and visible sponsorship.
  • Excellent active listening skills, adapts communications style as needed to best suit the audience and situation.  Agile, with a learning mindset.
  • Track record of taking initiative/building bridges between teams to drive results.  Able to build organizational and individual trust
  • Strong partnering and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to think strategically and systemically and achieve results collaborating across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts.  Able to simplify the complex, making it easy for people to understand the changes, what they need to do, and how to succeed.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast, complex, and changing environment.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Organization Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field
  • Previous Culture Transformation experience in large, matrixed organization
  • Problem solving and analytical skills (Six Sigma skills a plus)
  • Project management skills (PMP certification a plus)
  • Leadership Development certification (e.g., HPT, MBTI, CQ)
