Description
The primary responsibilities are as follows: Ability to lead design efforts for new product development and product line support projects / products through all stages of development into release for production in the various manufacturing facilities. Liaison between design intent and manufacturing & supplier capabilities. Facilitate efficient industrialization of new product development.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead design efforts for Medium Voltage New Product Development and Product Line Support group.
- Building prototypes and models where necessary to perform tests. Carries out relevant development / investigation and analysis testing in the open lab facilities. Full understanding of site specific electrical test lab equipment and procedures, including health, safety and security aspects.
- Integrates with the design team and design function to play a full and active part in the design projects, suggesting improvements and ways of accelerating the program and reducing costs . Search for collaboration with other functions or external partners to accomplish necessary targets.
- Develop and manage product cost estimates.
- Provides detail CAD design input : Concept design , Detail drawings . Tolerances validation . Simulations , BOM to meet goals.
- Consults and communicates clearly and timely at all levels within the organization
- Keeps up to date on the technologies portfolio relevant to the product line . Keeps also up to date on competition products and performances.
- Inform supervisor/manager regularly on work progress, cost, risk, scope redirection needs and stay in collaboration with supervisor. Must be a strong team player.
- Ensures full support of ProLaunch process and required documentation for relevant projects . When required participate in the preparation of all Pro-launch gates and sub-processes reviews.
- Should be prepared for occasional overseas travel to suit the need of project reviews, testing etc.
- Ensures strong product line support by promptly responding to warranty issues, questions from marketing/sales/customers and assisting the manufacturing plant with problems that may arise.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors' degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of two years' experience in product design engineering
- No relocation offered for this position, Candidates must reside within a 50 mile radius of Moon Township, PA facility.
- Sponsorship is not offered for this role. Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship on an ongoing basis.
Position Criteria:
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Fluent in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with new product development
- Technical knowledge of circuit protection, electro-mechanical components and assemblies
- Knowledge of MS Power Point a plus
- Knowledge of design software (2D or 3D)
- Having a background in Design for Six Sigma, VA/VE, and Lean Manufacturing
- Strong problem solving skills
- Excellent communication(written and oral)
