Eaton Corporation's Controls and Power Conversion Division, (CPCD) has an opening for a Systems Test Engineer. The Systems Test Engineer will be based from our Menomonee Falls, WI location.
Job Overview:
This individual will work with engineering and marketing to establish and validate product requirements. Be responsible for the design of test procedures, scripts, software tools and fixtures for the validation of embedded software/firmware in electronic motor control, motor protection and monitoring systems. Execute tests, document test results and validate defect corrections. Have responsibility of leading test programs from inception through the full development cycle to product release for sale, continuing as may be required by customer applications.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the verification and validation effort across a global test team by driving execution and resolving issues.
- Mentor others on the global team on automation techniques and best practice patterns.
- Function as the cross-functional team member for verification and validation activities by interfacing with project teams to produce resource schedules, status updates, and quality metrics.
- Research and develop advanced automated test suites and frameworks to exercise our world-class applications in an effort to increase test coverage and reduce testing costs.
- Create test strategies, test plans, define test metrics, determine resourcing needs, and summarize test activities.
- As functionality becomes available, create test plans, execute testing to schedule and write detailed test reports.
- Lead the continuous improvement activities for the verification and validation function.
- Drive product quality and development efficiency through automated test strategies and implementation.
- Design and maintain software tools and hardware fixtures for efficient and effective testing of products.
- As needed, direct and work with lab personnel to prepare and execute tests.
- Perform other duties as required to achieve departmental and divisional objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in test engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of software experience.
- Sponsorship is not provided with this role. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years in Test Leadership experience
- Experience developing custom automation tools.
- Knowledge and experience related to industrial applications such as motor protection, motor control, industrial communications protocols, and power systems is preferred.
- Experience extending a scripting language and graphical user interfaces is desired.
- Working knowledge of the evaluation methods in the design, development, and debugging of electronic devices.
- Working knowledge of IEC, UL, and CSA standards for industrial devices preferred.
- Knowledge of Software Quality Assurance methodologies and process preferred.
- Working knowledge of test tools and equipment to streamline and ensure test coverage and traceability.
- Proven ability to define functional processes and ensuring consistent application.
- Strong competency in customer focus, leadership, technical/functional excellence and the ability to champion change.
