Eaton is looking to hire a Lead Design Technician for the Ephesus Lighting Business located in Syracuse NY.

Position Overview

This position is accountable for supporting the Project Installation team. The focus of the position is to create CAD drawings of lighting system layouts and installation drawings for the venues we install our products in.  These systems are located in sporting and industrial settings. 

This position is responsible for providing support to the installation team and the project managers to complete turnkey sports lighting control projects.  A key responsibility of this position is to assist with the design and integration of the final complete lighting control system and create complete and accurate AutoCAD drawings for installation, operation and servicing of the systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate computer analyses/CAD designs of lighting systems layouts in Draftsight and AutoCAD along with system performance and evaluations.
  • Create installation and architectural drawings depicting wiring schematics for venues.  This also includes collecting supporting documentation for control systems and data sheets.
  • Coordinate transmittal of plans, drawings and other documents to customers
  • Interpret technical requirements by project.
  • Perform occasional site walk-throughs prior to installation kick-offs and for post installation verifications.
  • Follow up on outstanding projects.
  • Communicate with agents and customers on installation drawings, electrical systems and other criteria necessary to improve the layout and value engineer the layout intentions.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.
  • Develops a communication line with Product Managers, Technical Support, Agents, Contractors, Electricians, and Inside Sales teams to provide installation documentation and product details to ensure analyses are accurate.
  • Recommends and documents NEC standards specific to layouts.
Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates degree from an accredited institution
  • 2 years' experience in CAD
  • Relocation assistance not available for this position.  Only candidates living within a 50 mile radius of Syracuse, NY will be considered for this position
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field
  • Experience with AutoCAD, DraftSight, AGI32, Photometric Experience, Electrical Theory
  • Experience in the lighting industry
  • Experience in engineering or architecture
  • Strong knowledge in Eaton's Lighting product lines
