Description
As a co-op you are an essential part of the embedded software team and work hand in hand with professional embedded software engineers. You will be given work that is integral to providing features requested by customers and ensuring customer success. A mentor will be assigned to support your professional growth as an embedded software engineer and to ease the transition into the professional work environment.

If you want to become well versed in proven embedded software development techniques and become comfortable in a professional software development environment then this is the place for you. You will be exposed to a variety of software engineering knowledge areas including: OOD/OOA, full development life cycle, agile methodology, system design, test driven development, test automation, and build and configuration management.

Our goal is to prepare students to compete for an entry-level software positions upon graduation.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop C/C++, embedded software solutions in a hard real-time operating system environment.
  • Participation in the embedded software quality process i.e. design and code review, developing unit and functional test ware.
  • Assist in the setup/configuration of equipment for test/validation purposes. 
  • In working with a lead Engineer, develop software test plans and procedures.
  • Contribute as a team member achieving project deliverables such as but not limited to: providing work scope estimates, conferring with others as necessary, reporting progress, providing technical assistance.
Requirements

  • College sophomore level or above; studying computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering at an accredited 4 year college or university.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows
  • Experience with Object Oriented programming (C++ preferred)
  • Basic understanding of circuit theory and digital logic
  • Good communications skills, and experience in a team environment are essential
  • Legal Authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas for this job opening.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ideally, candidate would have completed some course work in: Object oriented design, Data Structures and Real-time Operating Systems
