S&C is a global provider of equipment and services for electric power systems. Founded in 1911, the Chicago-based company designs and manufactures switching and protection products for electric power transmission and distribution. This Summer Intern will work as part of the Client Services team in Information Technology.

Client Services supports S&C's PC install-base of 3,000 systems across 15 offices in 6 different countries (e.g., 6 different time zones).  The technical knowledge desired includes PC hardware, PC operating systems, application software support and networking/telecommunications.  Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Client Service

  • Responding to end-user support tickets to clarify and assist the client with problem resolution and hardware/software needs
  • Engender the confidence of clients that work will be completed at the required level of quality
  • Purchase or assist with acquiring approved hardware and software

Technical Support

  • Follow established standard work and best practices; define new standard work as appropriate
  • Identify and correct computer-related problems caused by hardware/software failures
  • Document software installation instructions and troubleshooting guides for application software
  • Support printer hardware

Project Work

  • Support project efforts as assigned
  • Record time spent on project tasks and completed project tasks in timesheets
Requirements

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • Student in good standing at an accredited university at the Bachelors level in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge of SolidEdge CAD/CAM and analytical software is a plus.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
