The Sr. Electrical Designer will be responsible for building a high quality AutoCAD design environment for use by other designers and engineers. He or she will have a high degree of freedom in establishing the engineering department's design and drafting infrastructure. Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
Work under a Professional Engineer (PE) to perform Electrical and Instrumentation Design. Develop Electrical and Instrumentation design standards to improve quality,efficiency and consistency across Engineering groups.
- Develop instrumentation and Electrical Drawings under the guidance of the Engineering staff
- Work with customer to adapt drawings as needed
- Provide formatting and standardization assistance in the drafting and design process
- Review vendor documents
- Assist in the development of project scope and installation standards
Requirements
- Minimum ten years electrical design experience, in a heavy industrial, petrochemical or utility environment.
- Experience developing wiring diagrams, one-lines, three-lines, control schematics, piping and instrumentation drawings.
- Substation design experience a plus.
- AutoCAD expert user who utilizes advanced features to automate tasks and improve drawing efficiency.
- Understanding of and experience with creating a common CAD environment for an engineering team.
- Understands and utilizes drawing best practices.
- Works collaboratively with engineers to meet schedules and produce high quality deliverables.
- Familiarity with standard ANSI electrical symbols.
- Ability to grow into a position leading other designer/drafters desirable.
- Take ownership of discipline design and be proactive in problem solving.
- Team player able to work effectively with other disciplines to successfully complete projects.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills are a must.
- Comfortable with fast-paced work environment; Quick learner.
- Able to balance priorities and meet deadlines.
- Safety and detail focused.
- Adherence to quality, safety, schedule, and budget.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.

- Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam.
- Must have a valid driver's license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
- Must be available for periodic domestic travel; international travel a plus and U.S. passport desired.
