Description
Employees in this job are responsible for maintaining and installing electronic equipment used for telecommunications including fiber optic transmissions equipment, lightwave multiplexing equipment, digital multiplexers, channel banks, circuit termination equipment, and DC power equipment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Under general direction:
- Installs equipment in support of network and customer requirements, maintains site security and cleanliness
- Oversees contractors to help maintain, repair and restore various portions of the network, e.g. Generators, HVAC, DC power plant and fiber optic cable and duct
- Applies knowledge of personal computers and common software
- Applies solid Sonet and Ethernet systems knowledge
- Troubleshoots equipment and network problems
- Removes and replaces defective modules
- Tracks spares and ensures repair
- Performs preventative maintenance checks of electronic equipment
- Maintains battery plant as built drawings and documentation
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Grad / GED
- Experience:2+ years
