Eaton's Power Motion Control Division has an immediate opening for a Senior Engineer. This position will be located at our Eden Prairie, MN facility.
Position Overview:
The Senior Engineer role is responsible for the creation, ownership, and improvement of all processes plant-wide. This position is responsible for leading/supporting in a teaming environment. Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities across the plant including the following activities: cost reduction / cost out projects, product cost estimating, develop prototype and production tooling, control plans and gauging. Developing and maintaining production standards and standard work. Develop and maintain electronic Statistical Process Control collection methods, reports, and systems. Assist in the coordination of the capital spending program, insuring accuracy of BOM and routings within ERP system, and assisting in new product launch.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead cost reduction projects, value analysis and economic programs in order to reduce labor and burden costs.
- Own, prepare, and maintain all production standard work and production documentation, conduct regular standard work checks.
- Use Eaton Lean System Tool in order to drive continuous improvements.
- Develop, maintain, and improve plant/work cell layouts.
- Responsible for Routings, Bill of Materials (BOM), Enterprise Resource Plan (ERP).
- Ensure that process improvements are accurately reflected in product costs and labor and material standards.
- Participates in ergonomics team meetings with goal of identifying and eliminating ergonomics risks.
- Evaluate customer returns for root cause and corrective actions, utilizing formal problem solving tools such as 8D analysis, PFMEA's, Control plans, etc. and being able to tie this analysis back to operations standard work and product documentation.
- Mentor co-ops, interns, and technicians.
- Support new product / process development utilizing ProLaunch.
- Analyzes manufacturing data, identifying adverse conditions and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Research, recommend and execute capital equipment projects.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Position Criteria:
- Knowledge of cost estimating and cost out skills / tools
- Knowledge of and application of problem solving tools and methodologies
- Ability to manage multiple projects, lean tools, organizational skills, project management, data base management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
- 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting
- Experience related to perishable tooling, fixtures, and gauging in a metalworking and assembly environment
- Experience with various computer software and applications such as CAD/CAM, Excel, Word, MS Project, Mini - tab. Ability to lead teams in a matrixed organization. Labview and SQL or Access database knowledge a plus.
- Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment
- Green Belt certified
- Master's degree in Engineering or an MBA from an accredited institution
