Description
Eaton located in Lincoln, Illinois has an immediate opening for a Lead Manufacturing Engineer.

Position Overview:

The plant in Lincoln is a part of Eaton's Residential and Wiring Devices Division (RWDD) in the Electrical Section, and manufacturing electrical distribution equipment that is used in residences across the country and in Canada. The lead manufacturing engineer coordinates all activities related to the development of complex and multi-disciplined engineering projects, ensuring that objectives are met in an optimum manner and are within budget. The engineer insured that all quality standards are met by developing and modifying process formulations, methods and controls. The engineer solves problems and makes recommendations for process improvements, and reviews and makes decisions based on feasibility studies and costing analysis.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement process improvements which reduce labor by simplifying tasks (process automation) or speeds the process (increases the number of products produced in a set time frame). Ensure that the safety of all employees is maintained during process changes.
  • Reduce product cost by improving on the product design.
  • Reduce product cost by reducing material used or type of material used in the product design.
  • Develop methods to reduce overall plant costs, meet profit plan targets, improve inventory control, quality improvement methods, etc., using lean tools and Six Sigma processes.
  • Introduce methods of flexible manufacturing to meet JIT ideals decrease the amount of lost time due to set-up/changeover, flexible tooling, etc. Initiate a safety review whenever a process and/or equipment change takes place.
  • Member of the Value Stream Teams, recommending and leading actions to achieve the business case.
  • Specify, investigate, justify, and purchase capital equipment to accomplish primary function.
  • Order or specify tooling and equipment.
  • Improve quality of product and equipment through use of 8D, FMEA and other root cause analysis.
  • Pursue safety improvements and adhere to all safety and EHS requirements.
  • Aid in the training of manufacturing personnel.
  • Perform special projects at direction of immediate supervisor.
  • Manage/lead projects in the plant to achieve profit plan targets. This includes identification and coordination of internal and external resources, development of plan and implementation per the project timeline and objectives.
Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology from an accredited institution is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in engineering.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
