The Production Specialist will work with on a wide range of equipment, components, and subassemblies involved in the manufacture of commercial HVAC equipment: Fire Dampers, Silencers, Louvers. A variety of work will be assigned, including, but not limited to: quality system development, process and safety improvements, identification and execution of written process instructions, component inspection, electrical testing, mechanical testing, assembly, and equipment maintenance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Define and drive sustainable growth of processes and equipment in the Manufacturing plant: safety, quality, layout, labour planning, etc.
- Strong aptitude for driving collaborative change introduction- and management within a unionized workforce.
- Support daily production activities as directed.
- Provide technical guidance to production staff and review work as directed.
- Collaborate with the Manufacturing- and Engineering teams to identify and execute process improvement initiatives, including: scope, qualification, implementation, and training.
- Identify and create written work instructions for production processes and procedures.
- Work with OHS Advisor to complete Job Hazard Analyses and implement solutions to address found issues.
- Complete incoming- and outgoing inspection of components as required.
- Liaise with key manufacturing suppliers as required.
- Develop process-specific tooling kits for sub- and final assembly: drive the transformation of the manufacturing facility using Lean principles like 5S.
- Ensure a high level of product quality is being achieved throughout the manufacturing process.
- Work closely with other manufacturing plants in the Price Group to share best practices and harmonize operations as applicable.
- Manage scoping, procurement, installation, and training for new capital expenditures and equipment refurbishments/repair.
- Where applicable, work closely with third-party vendors to ensure equipment and processes are operating within acceptable limits.

Diploma in manufacturing or related technical field
Knowledge or experience:
- Minimum 5+ years in a lean manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment an asset.
Skills and attributes:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings containing GD&T.
- Familiarity working with metal forming equipment: break presses, shears, roll-formers, spot welders, etc.
- Experience installing and servicing hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Ability to fabricate small components using a combination of machine tools and hand tools.
- Proven mechanical- and electrical trouble shooting skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, with the ability to clearly articulate challenges, ideas, and solutions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Familiar with the use of material handling equipment, like forklifts, cranes, and hoists.
- Experience with Six Sigma process improvement methodologies.
