Description

The Technical Marketing Engineer will:

  • Combine user knowledge with in-depth product knowledge to define and write functional technical product specifications to guide our engineering team in the development of the M-76XX products
  • Be key contact and support for OEM/Partner in the application and support of all Beckwith products including in-depth user training
  • Provide definition and support for communications particularly DNP and IEC61850
  • Provide deep product support for all M-76XX products.
  • Develop M-76XX "how to use" training material for Marketing/Sales use.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned as required.

  • Author technical and marketing content to support Beckwith products including, application notes, white papers, case studies, sales and training presentations, flyers, email blasts, Keep in Phase, BecReps, nugget documents, product feature tracker documents, technical marketing documents, press and product releases, Ads, Brochures, Catalogs and other marketing collateral material for distribution in printed and electronic media.
  • Design, build and operate marketing demo sets to promote Beckwith products and capabilities.
  • Under the supervision of the Marketing Director, conceive and execute marketing strategies and programs to increase promotion, sales and profitability of Beckwith Electric products and services.
  • Generates original ideas and work with other members of the creative team including RSM's, VP Message and Media, CTS, Engineering, BSE, Consultants and Staff to create and maintain customer-facing technical and promotional materials.
  • Contributes to the development of promotional and training material including power points, videos and webinars.

Other Skills and Abilities: 

  • Ability to manage, develop and prioritize marketing communications project plans, schedules and budgets.
  • Must have a strong understanding of, and be a practitioner of the principles and tools used for the creation of marketing communications materials.   Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.   Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.  Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Creative and analytical skills to identify relevant issues and develop responsive strategic solutions, and then translate into effective marketing programs.
  • Audience analysis.  Ability to analyze goals and needs of an audience with varying technical expertise with regard to written and verbal expression.
  • The ability to read and understand electrical and electronic schematics, specifications, and reference materials.
  • The ability to interview and understand engineers and technicians.
  • The ability to use inductive reasoning to develop descriptions of technical procedures and products.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a deep technical background in power system applications, protective relays and controls to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics or Communications Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years of increasing responsibility in industrial technical marketing.
  • Experience in product management, product design and project management.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient with previous and current versions of Microsoft Office Professional Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Visio).
  • AutoCad and any power simulation software would be a plus.
