We are currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Application Analyst l - lll.  The successful candidate will apply technical and business area expertise in support of enterprise information systems. Assists in implementing configuration and other changes to systems in conformance to the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC).  Functions as initial point of contact for application support and executes initial diagnosis of issues.  Performs quality assurance, application testing, application upgrade analysis, business process analysis and system analysis to insure optimum reliability, efficiency and application fit to the business area.  Through expertise, can provide end-user training and process improvement analysis.  Proficiency with an information system is similar to that of a "super user."

Position-Related Responsibilities

  • Performs application configuration and maintenance tasks required to adjust the application to best serve the needs of the client community.
  • Analyzes and recommends resolution of system problems, helps determine a course of action, and implements approved approach.
  • Assists with problem management activities such as root cause analysis.
  • Performs initial troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Serves as users' initial point of contact for problems and issues with systems.
  • Performs data quality assurance tasks needed to preserve the integrity of systems.
  • Plays key role in testing application patches, modifications and upgrades.  Identifies scope of test.  Identifies and executes test cases and captures/compiles results. 
  • Provides ongoing guidance, training and support in the use of information technology and application systems.
  • Provides enhancement feedback to support staff to improve the usability of technology.
  • Develops in-depth business area knowledge, including their strategies and expectations of technology.
  • Works with business areas and technical support staff to troubleshoot problems related to data errors, application defects and client training.
  • Performs application requirements analysis, software specifications and review of vendors design documents as needed. 
  • Works closely with internal customers to coordinate and implement changes.
  • Coordinates with various business areas to insure systems effectively support their business processes and strategies.
  • This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

Application Analyst I

  • Creates and runs simple queries for business areas in regards to data in supported systems.
  • Develops specifications for technical implementations when changes and design extend beyond configuration.
  • Executes testing of application designs and changes.
  • Maintains general configuration expertise, including impacts on interfaces.
  • Assists in small application development or enhancement projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates general understanding of one or more business areas and technology used in those areas.
  • Develops knowledge and skills through independent exploration of various modules and subsystems of the applications.
  • This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

Application Analyst II

  • Creates and runs complex queries for business areas in regards to data in supported systems.
  • As an expert in the system, provides other team members and the technical staff feedback on the most appropriate way to configure and enhance the system.
  • Supports and executes testing of systems to validate system functionality through preparation of data, development of test scripts, and identification of expected results.
  • Leads small application development or enhancement projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Successfully engages in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Develops relationships with the clients to fully understand their business drivers and concerns.
  • This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

Application Analyst III

  • Serves in a functional architect role for one or more enterprise applications.
  • Provides direction and support to testing teams to validate changes and system functionality.
  • Develops strong relationships with clients to fully understand their business drivers and concerns, and actively participates in planning/strategy discussions with client teams to achieve process improvements.
  • Coordinates system changes with other support teams and business areas to maintain high system availability for the clients.
  • Leads large application development or enhancement projects and process improvement efforts.
  • Provides mentoring and support to other Analysts.
  • This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Level l: Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED. Working knowledge of enterprise information systems functionality and configuration.   Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups and organization levels.  Strong business and technical analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into technical and operational requirements.  Project management skills including the ability to multitask, prioritize, set and meet deadlines, work independently, and perform tasks with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.  Demonstrated skill in use of personal computer applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  Communicates effectively, has strong organizational skills and strong problem solving skills.   Possesses comprehensive knowledge of information systems and how they interface to other applications.  Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related discipline preferred.

Level ll:  Minimum qualifications of Level I.  Three (3) to six (6) years of experience in enterprise application administration.  Proficient at understanding the needs of clients from a business perspective.  Demonstrates foundational understanding of the relationship between configuration and data, to identify how these affect system functionality.

Level lll:  Minimum qualifications of Level II.  Six (6) or more years of experience in enterprise application administration.  Able to abstract essential business requirements from clients to envision alternative solutions for the most cost effective implementation and anticipation of unstated functionality extensions, error conditions, and future scale requirements.  Actively promotes optimum solutions to client teams.  Demonstrates deep understanding of relationship between configuration and data to identify how these  affect system functionality.  Highly proficient at understanding the needs of clients from a business perspective.
