Nuclear Regulatory Commission
NRC Names Two Executives to Top Positions

September 21, 2017

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has announced the appointment of two office directors.

Mary C. Muessle has been appointed director of the Office of Administration. In this position, she will oversee a variety of support functions, including acquisitions, facilities and security, property management, publications and printing.

Anne T. Boland has been appointed director of the Office of Enforcement. In this position, she will oversee the development and implementation of policies and programs for enforcement of NRC requirements, including the agency's allegations and safety culture programs.

"We are pleased to announce the promotions of these experienced, talented individuals who will make significant contributions to the agency in their new positions," said Victor McCree, Executive Director for Operations.

Muessle joined the NRC in 2003 as a budget analyst. Since that time she has served in positions of increasing responsibility and became a member of the Senior Executive Service in 2008. Most recently, she was the agency's Deputy Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining the NRC, Muessle worked for the U.S. Information Agency, for a global nonprofit organization, and for a wireless telecommunications venture. Muessle received a bachelor's degree in human development and education from Syracuse University, and a master of business administration from The George Washington University.

Boland joined the NRC in 1985, directly out of graduate school. She joined the Senior Executive Service in 2006 and has served in a variety of increasingly senior positions in the agency's Region II, in Atlanta, and Region III, in Lisle, Ill. Most recently, she worked in headquarters as the director of the Division of Operating Reactor Licensing, in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.

Boland holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Augusta College and a master's degree in health physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

The new office director changes will be effective on Oct. 29.
