Green Mountain Power will be sending more than 30 lineworkers, supervisors, and mechanics to Georgia to help in the Hurrican Irma recovery efforts which wiped out power to millions and left historic damage to many parts of the southeast.

Crews will travel this afternoon to Georgia where 1.5 million people are without power, to help Georgia Power restore power and set new poles, make repairs to downed lines and broken poles, barring any need to bring the team back earlier to join crews staying in Vermont. The mutual aid relationship between utilities is strong, and in times of crisis extends throughout the country.
"Much like local fire departments, utilities work incredibly closely when the chips are down. We have benefitted in the past from those close ties, and now it's great to help those in need," said Carlson.
