NARUC Responds to DOE's Release of Grid Study

Aug 29, 2017

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners has issued a response to the Department of Energy's study of the electric grid's reliability:

"We appreciate the effort undertaken by the Department of Energy to produce this report. A reliable and resilient electric system is essential to protecting public health and fostering economic growth and job creation.

"The findings of this study reflect the chief interests and concerns of state regulators, whose mandate is to serve the public interest by ensuring safe, adequate, reliable and affordable energy service. We and our members will undertake a careful review of the study and its recommendations, which have implications for both state and federal regulators.

"As always, we look forward to working with DOE, the Administration and stakeholder groups to ensure the reliable delivery of electricity to all customers."

John W. Betkoski III, NARUC President
Vice Chairman, Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority
