Abengoa completes an electrical transmission line project in Peru

Aug 17, 2017

Abengoa, the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environmental sectors, has received the final acceptance certificate from the Southern Peru Copper Corporation (SPCC), in Peru's Moquegua Region, with regard to a 220 kV electric transmission project which links the town of Ilo to the National Interconnected System (SEIN).

Abengoa has been responsible for carrying out the engineering, design and construction of the project in the form of EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction). The company has constructed the Moquegua substation that has two bays feeding the L-2033 and L-2034 lines - both 220 kV, and amounts to 54 and 187 kilometers respectively. The project also included a 220 kV switchyard for the Ilo 3 electrical substation.

The completion of this project enables Abengoa to guarantee the necessary power that its client requires to engage in its activity which is currently undergoing a process of expansion, as well as strengthening the electrical system in the south of the country.

Abengoa has been present in Peru for more than 22 years and has developed many electrical, hydraulic and hydroelectric power structures during this time, all of which strengthens its leading position in the construction sector of high voltage transmission systems. Its portfolio of more than 4,000 km of transmission lines and more than 30 substations constructed in this Andean country is clear evidence of this fact.
