The Financial Analyst II provides cost management accounting, financial analysis, and reporting support for departments within the Regulated Utilites segment. The analyst will work in a self directed way with functional managers and their staff to formulate and consolidate budgets, as well as track actual performance against targets throughout the year.  The analyst is expected to be a full business partner with a deep understanding of business drivers and their financial impacts.  The analyst is expected to perform analyses and research ad-hoc requests that are more complex in nature.  The analyst should also develop reporting, and effectively prepare presentations for management review and decision making.

With Minimal Supervision:

  • Customer Support
  • Provide financial, accounting, and business management analytical support to a defined customer group or to other peers or functional managers within the department. Working independently, serve as a resource for technical/functional support, provide guidance and assistance for questions and problems related to financial business management.
  • Financial Budgeting, Analysis and Projections
  • Develop budgets for increasingly complex customer groups and departments.  Evaluate and report business unit O&M and capital budget variances.  Provide input to departmental projections.
  • Information Preparation
  • Perform research and Prepare financial presentations for management review, cost/status reporting, and decision making.Generate reports, graphs and charts as requested using PC and/or financial applications.
  • Special Projects
  • Participate as a co-lead or team member for various special projects or financial studies. Projects are typically more complex and may involve research outside of the analyst's area of support .
  • Accounting adjustment preparation
  • Prepare accounting journal entries including accruals and corrections.

Qualifications

Basic/Required Qualifications:
BS/BA in Accounting/Finance, Economics, or related discipline or equivalent work experience
3-6 years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in a related field  in addition to degree

Desired Qualifications:

  • Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft FMIS, Power Plant, etc.) and query tool (Business Objects)
  • Proficient using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Previous experience supporting an operations group
  • Previous experience supporting a generating station
