Controls, operates and maintains stationary engines, boilers, or other mechanical equipment to provide utilities for buildings on the University of Oklahoma campus.
Responsibilities:
- Activate valves to maintain required amounts of water in boilers, to adjust supplies of combustion air and to control the flow of fuel into the burners.
- Adjust controls and/or valves on equipment to provide power, and to regulate and set operations of system or industrial process.
- Maintain daily logs of operations, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument reading, and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work.
- Monitors and inspect equipment, switches, valves, gauges, safety devices and meters to detect leaks or malfunctions and to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
- Using computers, controllers, automatic and manual equipment to control power generating equipment.
Preferred Skills:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- We prefer one (1) year experience in maintenance of large equipment such as motors, pumps, generators. Experience using hand and power tools preferred.
- We expect you to be able to read and understand gauges on equipment, use hand and power tools, control panels and switches.
- Read schematic diagrams with the ability to locate components on equipment by referring to schematic.
- We will supply the tools and material to get the job done right the first time.
- Working rotating shifts including rotating weekends is required for the position.
- Valid Driver's license required.
